Hi! I'm Mrs. Johnston. I have been a teacher for 20 years and have taught many grade levels from 6th grade gifted and talented language arts to 11th grade on-level English. I hope to have a great year, and look forward to the many accomplishments my students will achieve!!
Here are a few things about me: I have a husband and two daughters. I have been married for 22 years, and our girls are 19 and 16, a sophomore at UTA and a junior in high school. I love Harry Potter (obviously), and I want to collect all of the POP figures from the HP Collection. I do collect magnets from different places. Basically, if anyone I know goes anywhere, it could be Austin or Egypt, I ask them to get me a magnet. I have gotten them from friends, students, and family, and my collection is here in my classroom.
Aside from being an HP nerd, I LOVE Marvel and Star Wars, so I'm pretty much a nerd all around! If I had a super power, I think it would be the ability to recommend books to students that they actually like. So if you ever need something new to read, come and ask. I've been trying to build my classroom library, so there are many awesome titles right here in the classroom!
Some students say that I am mean, but really, I just expect a lot from my students, and I hold them to high standards. Hopefully, this gives you skills that will help you in high school and beyond. If you ever have a problem, come and talk to me. I am more than willing to have an open, respectful conversation about any concerns you might have.
